In reality, the girls have been in the NICU for a little over 4 weeks.
Fortunately, things are still going really well. Hazel, like Abigail, now has a nose feeding tube. The brain scans done at the month mark came back all clear (a big woo-hoo to that). The physical therapist checked them out in the morning and said both were doing well, and both are starting to show interest in sucking (yay - means bottle feeding is close). The eye doctor will check them out tomorrow.
Both had their feedings upped; Hazel now eats 35 ml per feeding, and Abby eats 29. The doctor strongly considered taking Abby off the nasal cannula, but decided to wait a bit longer ... she doesn't need it often, but when she does, it comes in handy. And, Hazel is 3 pounds 10 oz and Abigail is up to 3 pounds 6 oz. Really, the only concern at this point is Abby's diaper rash - they had to switch from Boudreaux's Butt Paste (yup, that was the name) that both girls were using to a stronger one for Abby. But when Matt visited last night, it was doing much better. So yay on that too.
I helped give Abby a bath today. No fussing at me! I then held both (swaddled) separately...Hazel was zonked the whole time; at the very end of my time with Abby, she threw up. My first spit up experience (of likely many more). ;)
During the time between holding the girls, I went over to visit Becky, Daniel, and the newly born Darcy Jane Diffen! She came in at 7 pounds 15 oz, and seemed HUGE, especially since I had just held Hazel. In fact, putting both of the twins together still doesn't equal Darcy's weight right now! :) It'll definitely be fun to see all three of them grow up together.
