Strollin' on a Saturday Night

I ran a quick errand to pick up a few things at the grocery store, and when I returned Matt was just finishing up feeding both Hazel and Abigail.  Talk about industrious:

After eating, neither of the girls were settled down, so we decided to go on a family walk.  The advantage of going after dusk, of course, is the temperature is much more bearable.  Plus, no worries about having the girls in the sun (like earlier today, when I took them to get the mail - super hot, super sunny).  So Matt loaded up the girls in our double stroller, I leashed the Merry-dog, and we walked around the neighborhood for about awhile.  About a block down the road, an older looking labrador retriever started walking with us (he was gentle, had tags/microchip, and answered to the name of "Buddy," per his tags).  We walked about a mile total ... Matt pushing the stroller (with an iPod playing music), me walking Merry, and Buddy trotting alongside.

As we walked, it struck me how much better this was than sitting in the NICU on a Saturday night (which is what we'd done the last 3+ months).  And it seemed so normal.  The girls loved it too ... Abby really likes the movement (she wakes up when the stroller - or the car - stops), and Hazel seemed content as well.  All in all, a nice family outing; our first.
