A High of One Hundred, or Daddy Went to Disneyland and All I Got Was This Lousy Hat

Pretty eventful week.

Last weekend I came down with a cold (Saturday night was miserable), and, in the spirit of sharing, I think I gave it to Hazel and Abby (who, in turn, gave it to Karen.  Or maybe I gave it to Karen).  Both girls were sniffling, coughing, and sneezing on Sunday and Monday.  On Monday night, I woke up around 2:30-3:00 am due to Hazel's congestion.  I gave her more saline spray, and then checked her temp about 15 times.  Never got a really good read, but it was definitely higher than it was before I put her to bed.  So we stripped off the sleepsack and her pants and after crying for a bit she went back to sleep.

Fortunately, aside from the sneezing and runny noses, the girls seemed fine (eating well, generally good moods, active), and a quick call to the pediatrician confirmed we didn't need to bring them in unless it got worse.  And, at this point, it seems like we are over the worst of the congestion, although the girls still do have some lingering symptoms.
Oh, and in the meantime....Matt had a work trip to DISNEYLAND.  Life's tough, isn't it?  :)  When he first was asked to go, we spent about a millisecond considering to make it a family trip, but decided we didn't want to risk the girls on a plane and getting sick (haha - ironic) plus, obviously, they are not yet at an age where they could really enjoy it.  So Matt went off to California and Disneyland and I stayed home with the sick girls (with lots of help from Karen).

A cute thing that happened while Matt was gone:  On Monday night he had the evening free, so he called home and read/recited the girls' bedtime stories over the phone.  He did really well, too - only needed minimal prompts.  So I put the phone between the cosleepers, put it on speaker, and the girls listened to their dad from two time zones away.  I think they enjoyed it, although seemed slightly confused since they didn't know where he was.

Matt got back from his trip this evening and brought us presents!  He said they didn't have Mickey Mouse ears for six month olds, so he bought ones sized for stuffed bears.  They ended up being a little small:

Is this a thrilled face or what?

He got me a comfy hoodie, and also decided to Indiana Jones it up for himself.  Check it out:

Sounds like he had a wonderful time and everything went well with the game demos, but we are sure glad he's back!  Pics from the week:

Abby:  Excuse me?  Did you need something?
Julie came to visit while Matt was away.  She and Abby had fun playing.
