Budding Monets

For Christmas presents to the grandparents this year, we decided to make pottery with handprints and footprints of the girls.  SO much easier said than done!  We went over to Cafe Monet, where you can paint pre-made pottery and then they fire/glaze it for you.  Pretty cool - I had never been there before, but had always wanted to go.

First of all, too many choices!  After much deliberation, we settled on platters and mugs, and used lots of greens and browns.  Then, it took three adults (Karen, Matt, and me or the person working there) to get the girls to open up their fist and make the hand print!  I think next year it will be easier when we can ask the girls to keep their hands open.  The feet prints went a bit better, since it is (obviously) harder to curl feet.  :)  And, of course, the girls couldn't resist touching things with hands covered in green paint.  At one point, Abby stuck her hand in her mouth, and got green paint all over her face (fortunately, the paint is non-toxic).  Finally, the painting took forever!  We ended up being at the place from about noon until 5:30!  That was partially my fault, though - I probably got overly ambitious on the number of projects and decorating them all.  And thank goodness for Karen - while Matt and I worked, she took the girls on various walks and trips to get food.  The girls were troopers too - away from home, they handled two feedings, several diaper changes, and two naps like champs!  Fortunately, as Karen said, we have very laid back babies.  :)

So, pics from our adventure:

As I mentioned, feet are much easier than hands at this age.

Abby tries to eat her bottle, which is sitting in the "beer holder" of the
Go-Pod (coined by Matt or Karen).
And the results!
