Happy Six Months!

The girls are SIX months old today (and 3.5 months adjusted)!  Hard to believe their half birthday is here!  Seems like they knew it was a special day, because both woke up in really good moods (and slept until 7:15 am or so, as an added bonus).

Their six month pediatrician appointment is tomorrow, so that's when we'll get the next length/weight measurement.  I think they get shots tomorrow too, and since Matt will be there, he'll get to enjoy that experience (which includes Hazel turning into a tomato).

Hazel at six months:

NICKNAMES:  Hazelbear, the Bear, Smiley, Drool-Bug 

FAVORITE TRICKS:  Smiling, cooing/babbling, rolling over from belly to back AND, in the last few weeks, rolling from back to belly.  In fact, she doesn't stay on her back when put down for a nap ... she usually flips over and sleeps on her cheek (giving it and her nose a rosy appearance when she wakes up).  She is kicking *constantly*.

FAVORITE TOY:  The plush soccer ball and Jacques the Peacock.

DISLIKES:  Waiting for food ("Did I *miss* a meal??????), going to sleep ("no! no! I'm not tired!!! I'm not tired!!! I'm not ti.....zzzzz")

FAVORITE MOMMY MOMENT(S):  Bouncing her on my knee while humming the William Tell Overture which almost always makes her laugh (even if she had been crying a few minutes before); reaching for me when I pick her up off the playmat (at least, that's what it looks like to me); kissing her neck (which also usually gets a smile); watching her dad read the bedtime story in assorted voices (past nights have included Patrick Stewart and Sean Connery impressions of "Pajama Time"). 

FAVORITE DADDY MOMENTS: "All of them," but if he had to pick a favorite, "the first real smile;" every time he picks her up in the morning she gets excited and starts kicking and smiling

Abigail at six months:

NICKNAMES:  Abs, Abimus (Tootimus), Abinator, Abbage (the cabbage)

FAVORITE TRICKS:  Smiling, cooing/babbling, rolling over from belly to back (and looking like she plans to roll back to belly any day now), talking during food times and in the morning after breakfast; holding onto the burpcloth and/or your shirt during food times.  

FAVORITE TOY:  Jacques the Peacock.

DISLIKES:  Not being held or getting attention; applying ointment to her birthmark.

FAVORITE MOMMY MOMENT(S):  Chatting with her in the morning during her first bottle; bouncing her on my knee to make her smile; cuddling; watching her dad have a conversation with her and read the bedtime story (see above).
FAVORITE DADDY MOMENTS:  Big Abby grins; when she is still and content, and decides to look up at him and babble, or when she is eating and starts talking (even with the bottle in her mouth).
