Busy day today.
The countdown is still on for Abby. Her last episode was May 24 (still), so it is still looking good. Hazel is still having the daily episodes, so she is in "perpetual countdown." I'm cautiously optimistic that someone will be coming home this week.

Both girls had their followup eye exams today (and so were a bit tired when we visited in the afternoon), but the good news is the next followup isn't until they are nine months of age. Dr. So said there is a slight risk of eye misalignment and/or nearsightedness, which the doctors won't be able to detect until later. (I had both of these when I was little, so this doesn't worry me too much.)
The girls also had followup hearing tests, since the antibiotics given to treat the infections have a slight risk of causing hearing loss. Fortunately, no problems passing those either!
I had an interesting conversation with Bonnie today while Matt and his dad were washing up. We were talking about the mom of triplets who started contracting on Friday. So far, L&D have been able to stop the labor, but the NICU is on notice that really premature triplets will be coming. What I learned during my discussion with Bonnie is the NICU has real-time monitors following what is going on in L&D, so they know exactly how far along the mom is and how it is progressing. Makes total sense, I just never thought about it before. And it also means they did the same thing for me all those weeks ago..."there's a mom of twins contracting ... she's at 28 weeks ... better get prepped."
Today also had a mini Parson family reunion! Matt's cousin Amber, her husband Danny, their daughter Naomi (super cute), and Janis and Billy met us for lunch before we headed to the NICU. It was so great to see them! Amber especially has been so supportive during this whole thing, sending the occasional "how are you" email and offering advice if we needed it.
Some pics for the day!
